10 seconds till start, "I'm going to win" is the only thing going threw my head. 5 seconds to go I'm thinking "man my luck". The gun sounds and we were off. The race was hard but I was feeling pretty good considering there was a few attacks but only a few that caught my eye. Me and the guys riding with me kept a close watch. 2 laps to go and there was 2 guys 20 seconds up the road I was in the position to win, a few teams hit the front trying to bring the 2 man break back with no luck. With one to go I was sitting top 10 and on a 4k circuit that was a good position to be in. Coming into the sprint, that low seat height was getting to me. 1k to go there's a crash in front of me pushing me from 10th to in the 20's. With 500m to go I just went for it and I ended up 6th. I couldn't help but smile, what a prize, 6th place is not so bad considering how the day started.Thursday, October 28, 2010

Break Through.

At this point last year it was unheard of for me to start a ride in the rain. Even at team camp with LiveSTRONG when we got caught in a rain storm, some of the guys would head out early to get there ride out of the way. I would rather ride alone after everything cleared up. Today I rolled in the rain for 3.5 hours at a Avg. watts of around 211. Which for me living in the city is smashing. There was never a point were I didn't want to be on my bike or I would rather be doing something else. I was 100% focused on being the best at whatever it is I can be the best at. I was determine to silence the haters. Today was a huge step for me I felt like nothing could stop me. Between the stress of my family and looking for a job that will best develops me for next year riding has bin so tough. I have a few Six day events coming up so I'm putting some endurance miles in to be prepared to roll a 88 inch gear for a couple hundred lap's each night. So it's needed, I also just got the call from a long time friend (more like an uncle) to do 70k circuit race in Mexico City which I'm pretty excited for since the last time I got to take a random get up and go trip was back in my Rock Racing days. Im not in the greatest form but I'm always good for flat fast races so off I go. I have to talk the team about were I'm going but I'm hoping It'll be a chapter in the memory book. So stay tuned maybe ill get another check in the win column before 2010 is over.

Offseason
In my whole career I've only took a total of maybe 3 breaks. I started when I was 14 years old and since my Father always went home to Belize for a race called the "New Years Grand Prix" my training started right after the last Ontario. See the way my training was set up as a kid was as long as your riding you'll do fine. I road four times a week and most days were training crits, all intensity, all the time. So when it came to suffering it wasn't a problem but my endurance on the other hand would be my down fall. Which answers a lot of questions on why its taking me so long to learn the trades of road racing. I'll get there promise. This Offseason I'm taking time off and in 2011 I'm looking to be as good all around as I am in crits.Iv'e had a coach for a year now Jim Lehman www.trainright.com/. Funny its hard for people to believe I've never had a coach but Iv'e done a lot of my career on pure talent. Threw out the years I've realized that in cycling talent will only get so far. So this off season everything's on the line.

Erase Me
Another hitter from the Cudster if you ask me. It has everything a great song needs a catchy hook, verses saying something, and Kanye West. I play this song on repeat I'm so fond of it. The video how ever threw me, Come on Cudi, Jimmy Hendrix? I mean its cool I'm a fan no matter what but I think that video could have bin way cooler. So many people go threw that struggle, that person they hate to love. Personally this should have bin a love story gone bad video. I think it would have caught the eye of some not so typical fans. 4.6/5 Stars...

Ink My Whole Body!
This is a new Idea for my next tattoo I want to place it on my rids cause I would like to keep it under raps for the most part. I drew it myself. Its apart of the Belizean flag and it's alway meant a lot to me being Belizean so this is what I came up with.
I think its important to get a tattoo that means something to you personally. I cant stand when guys just get tattoos. why?
At this point in time even skinny little chumps get Blasted. "Blasted"- Lots and lots of tats. I feel its more or a expression like wearing clothing. It doesn't make you bad ass and no ones afraid of them anymore. So I'm officially taking Tattoo's from the harsh, cold people of the world and giving it to the people that would never regret having something beautiful on them, The art-see creative type.
So in conclusion Please tell me what you think I want to start this project in the next few weeks.

2010 US Track Nationals.
Track Nationals is usually one of the high lights of my year. I look forward to pumping my tires to 180 psi, Sitting around for hours between event while talking to all my friends from out of town, and watching the crashes from people riding way too slow on the track which banks at a wonderful 45 degrees. This year I was more about having fun, my head wasn't really into it and I just wanted to go on vacation after a long season.
First things first, the Scratch Race. I love this event it's the closes thing to a Crit on the track, its so much about being at the right place at the right time. This year the qualifying race which moves 8 guys from each heat to a final were you contend for the Nation Championship was a full 30 minutes apart. "Great" guess who got the heat 3? Yes I wasn't excited. I couldn't help but think "I wonder who makes this schedule" and when was the last time they've done a race. No matter on to the race. It was a pretty easy qualifier I road a 96in. gear to be safe. Everything stayed pretty smooth and it came down to a field sprint, thinking I was safe I decided to free pedal to the line which was a bad I idea considering I ended up 8th, Boxing Johnny in to do so "Sorry Johnny" witch I don't feel so bad considering the shoe was on the other foot last year. It was on to the final! With a stacked final I put on a 98in gear and it was time to, as my good friend TP loves to say nut up. I was expecting a fast race to say the least. I talked a bit to my teammate Iggy about leading him out if he happened to lap the field. Only if he would come find me and take me to the front if the race came down to a field sprint which it did. To bad I never saw Iggy which kinda sucked since I'd bin swinging on people and blocking every time he'd get near the front, which later landed me in trouble with Mr. Bobby Lee. "Sorry Bobby". There was 5 laps to go and I was in a bad spot, not thinking straight and with hurting legs. I tried finding good wheels to follow with no luck, I lost track of the laps and before I knew it I was coming a round to the bell. In 10th place there wasn't much I could do so I just stayed put and finished the race. I couldn't help but think to my self "thats not the way I saw that going down in my head" but the race was over and I had gotten kicked in the teeth with medal boots. Jamie Carney took the race over Bobby Lee 2nd and Jackie Simes 3rd. No Stars and Bars for me.
